It has been some time since people’s focus shifted from “having” to “doing.” People’s lifestyle and consumption behavior have changed drastically. It has become common sense to value communities in which to share experiences, knowledge, and excitement rather than owning material possessions. ReBITA, an organization that designs housing and communities through renovations, is quickly recognizing the rapid change in times and has been growing in the real estate field.

Since its onset in 2005, ReBITA has been leading the industry, creating new living spaces and business models one after another, with a focus on the stock model society and a vision to “continue creating the next common sense of real estate.”

Its initiatives include the renovation of entire buildings of company housing and apartment buildings, a one-stop consulting service for renovations RENOVATION FULL SUPPORT SERVICE, and the management of a series of shared rental housing,SHARE PLACE series. Its work has been highly regarded, such as being awarded the famous Good Design Award. The company’s success roots in its passion to enrich the lives of people in the region or town by creating communities through creating “space”, not just “boxes”, and thereby connecting residents to residents, people to their housing, and people with their region.

Creating trends is not the goal

In ReENT tamadaira, through turning a part of a housing complex built over 50 years ago into student accommodation and allowing young people to move in, the complex became revitalized as a community in which people across generations and cultures interact. It is a successful example of revitalization of housing complexes and regions.

The next challenge for ReBITA is thzvzvzve new business of shared, combined hotels, in which the company will revitalize aging, unused real estate into regional spaces of activity with accommodation, shared space, and restaurants. Beginning with the opening of HATCHi Kanazawa in city of Kanazawa in March, 2016, it is planning new openings in Tokyo,Hokkaido and is creating a second facility in Kanazawa,and Kyoto. It aims to contribute to the revitalization of local communities.

In addition, the company is pioneering to restructure the current state of housing by proposing a “lifestyle of modifying with care.” In this project, it takes used real estate estimated to have no value when it turns 20 years old and renovates its structural and environmental performance into levels surpassing new buildings. However, it purposely leaves space for further modification. Rather than creating trends, ReBITA surpasses the boundaries of real estate and continues to lead the times in pursuing the true meaning of abundance. Keep your eyes on the future of housing culture that it will create.
