ベルギーのルーヴェン大学日本学科を卒業。 関西大学大学院文学研究科総合人文学専攻国文学専修を修了。外国人で最年少の遠州流茶道師範。ベルギー人初の日本茶インストラクター。国内外の門下生に茶道を教え、日本茶・日本茶文化を原点から捉え、伝統的な姿を解き明かすため、様々な催し物を開催している。

Graduated from the Japanology department at Leuven University in Belgium. Master's degree in 17th Century Edo period literature at Kansai University in Osaka. The youngest foreigner to have ever achieved full instructorship in the Way of Tea as taught by the (warrior-style) Enshū school. The first Belgian to have become qualified as Nihoncha Instructor. Currently, while directly instructing pupils in Japan and abroad, Tyas seeks to understand Japanese tea from the origin, and is host to various activities through which he wishes to shed light on the true tradition of Japanese tea as a whole."
